Dust + Bone

The first fall mix in 5 years makes its fiery return for this full moon in Aries. The creative spark has been reignited, and this offering poured out over a long night of red wine, mugwort, moonlight and furious dancing.

A visceral, ecstatic catharsis that plunges the dark waters before burning the whole thing to the ground, leaving nothing but dust and bone.

Tonight we raise the dead. Tonight we bury this in fire.

Seven Devils

I'll be dead before the day is done.

Hello, my sweets. This creation you behold in your sights was a long time in the making. Over two years, in fact. But now, the stars see fit to shine their dark light on our ragtag band of children. Follow me into gypsy tents of the Big Top, where ghosts of long ago hide their opium den indiscretions and secrets.  Peer into the thaeter of the grotesque, in the flickering light of silent films and Weimar cabaret. Watch as Hallowe'en of old collides with the golden industrial age. Step right up, come closer, the wonderment lies ahead in this woozy, Absinthe fueled funhouse, but...you have been warned. It's a long, hard road out of Hell.

Sweet Dreams,

Lites Out at the Silver Bell

First, there was Midnight at the Starlite, a whiskey fueled homage to the great David Lynch. In 2008, the follow up Lites Out at the Silver Bell took a decidedly more sinister turn. A seedy motel, a loaded gun, static on the TV and a pounding on the door. In those lonely hours and moments of despair, put this record on. These songs are to die for...

Stay tuned for the third and final installment this fall, Last Call at the Blue Angel.

Spiral Dance

I had to adopt the pace of nature and be patient with this mix as the songs and artwork slowly revealed themselves to me. I did not set out to choose almost all female vocalists, but it’s what I was drawn to this year, after my experiences this fall. It is pine needles on the forest floor, it is leaves falling like snow. It is a chilly wind against your cheek, it is the beauty of letting go. Marked by time spent in the woods reconnecting with the earth, a turbulent storm of deep emotions and transformation, embracing the divine feminine…and Stevie Nicks.

I hold this collection very close to my heart. I’m sad the process is over, but happy to now release and share it with you. Spin around under a tree, let the golden light strobe against your eyes, and begin the windstorm.

The Invocation

Ever heard of invoking the spirit? Well the spirit of fall is upon us, and there's no going back. The light wanes, the leaves die, and we turn our attention inward. As we brace ourselves for the coming cold, we take time to now to embrace the dark. This year's fall mix completely changed directions on me, following a magickal day spent in the woods. This is smoke and embers, mystery and incantations, and the wild hunt. Now is the time, now is the hour. This is the way, step inside...

Gold Dust

Hello there,

By now your Halloween costume is probably tossed in the garbage, at the bottom of the hamper or lost to the ether somewhere.  You're left with this waiting period until Thanksgiving and the holiday whirlwind.  Never fear, my friends, I have a special surprise for you.  This is Gold Dust, my 2009 fall mix, and also my favorite.  This mix really captures that mysterious, electric, primal feeling that only autumn can bring.  If you've ever seen the golden light of a sunset through the forest trees, the smell of chimney smoke somewhere in the distance, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.  Happy hunting!

From the Grave!

Hello kiddies,

My name is Sir Cosmo von Bathory.  Petropolis is out scampering about town in this despicable weather doing god knows what in preparation for this quaint little holiday you all celebrate.  All fun and games to you, but this is the day I was murdered, and it was not a pretty sight. But that is neither here nor there.  Today I am bringing you a little treat, as I am in hiding and not making any appearances this year.  I give you From the Grave: Halloween Revisited. It's a "best of," if you will, culled from several past years of Halloween mixes by Petropolis himself. I do hope you enjoy this and play it at all your silly little parties.  I, however, will be reliving my own death, as I do year after year.  But I shall bore you no more.  Enjoy your holiday.

Electric Chapel

Well kids, the change is finally upon us.  Summer is gone, the light is waning and the air has that crackle of excitement as fall begins.  I'll be going upstate this weekend to start it off right with some hiking, apple picking and pumpkin pie eating.  I'm kinda in love with this mix right now.  A little darkness and rock n' roll never hurt nobody.  So grab your Jameson or Jack and burn a hole in the road.

Glitter & Alchemy

Stone of amethyst
twinkle of night
smoke of the embers
fires burn bright
A shimmering dark
and magickal brew
as leaves do fall
so too will you
Say it thrice
cast the circle round
the wheel does turn
the spell is bound
