Once upon a time, there was a boy who dreamed of a place beyond place. A time without time. Perpetual bloom...exuberant euphoria. It was in this dream the Sprinquinox was born. No one can be told what the Sprinquinox is. Are you ready to experience it for yourself?

This year I celebrate 10 years of Sprinquinox, and 20 years of spring mixtapes! They are my labors of love and fuel for my fire. I hope you get some joy, laughter and dancing from this year's offering.

For the 10th anniversary of Lovely Day/Lovely Night (the spring mix that started this double disc ridiculousness) Brand New Day brings us back to basics to focus on the music.

This mix is all about the soul cleansing purity of getting lost in the groove. So relax, breathe, and let it take you where you need to go. And remember, a brand new day brings a brand new night...

The year, 2006! The place, Austin, Texas! That year saw some major changes for Petropolis, giving birth to the very first double disc spring mix. Yes, a fabled classic in his own mind, this is the mix that started the grand tradition. Evoking lovely days spent running the trails under blue skies, and a trippy, iridescent night spent dancing till the sun came up.  Be sure to enjoy Lovely Night's 26 minute dance extravaganza!

Spring has finally sprung! While we're hard at work in the StuStuStudio on this year's mix, I wanted to share this chestnut with you. The year was 2004, before the spring mix became a thematic double disc extravaganza. Freewheeling road trips, fresh air, wildflowers and wide open spaces. And a little Jermaine Stewart ditty that gained an exalted place in the Petropolis mythology. 

I meant to share this last year for Blue Skies' 10th anniversary, but I had to reconstruct from a CD that wasn't in the best shape! So I patched it together with love, and I hope it puts a smile as big as Texas on your face.

Something a little different from Petropolis...

Love is all you need. And I needed a lot of it to bring this mix to completion! I set out to create a supreme expression of my vision of love, in all its forms, to reflect the astounding openness and gratitude I have been experiencing this year. How the hell do you do that in a spring mix? As I discovered to be most true this time around, "a painting is never finished. It simply stops in interesting places." This mix has gone through more incarnations than I can count, but I finally found the right balance to make my heart smile and convey the utmost glory of Spring. The trick is, as I am learning in life, to continually BREATHE, to take a pause, and return to my center and operate from a place of love, not fear. That's when things simply fall into place. So open your heart, and I hope you enjoy my silly, giddy, exuberant, triumphant and very personal love parade.

This work is dedicated to my Master Teachers, known and unknown.

And to Charlotte Rose Coyle, my wee angel.

Enter the Sprinquinox

Sitting high on Cloud 9 in the Petropolis Stu-stu-studio, I'm ready to unleash a wave of springtime happy silly craziness on you.  This year's spring mix will drop in just a few short weeks, but in the meantime I wanted to give you something to get things moving.

Many of you already know of the Sprinquinox, a mobile holiday I created in 2007 purely just to celebrate spring, my favorite season.  Each year we do something different, the only guideline being fun in the sun, maybe food and drinks as well.  The coinciding mix for the inaugural Sprinquinox took me in a new direction, using friends' vocal talents as interludes throughout the mix.  It is a journey, to say the least.  No one can be told what the Sprinquinox is.  You have to experience it for yourself.

After 3 months of hunting, gathering, splicing, chopping, rearranging, technical difficulties and obstacles, computer crashes, mastering, more rearranging, artwork creation...it is finally here.  For those that don't know, I've been making seasonal mixes for 13 years, and over the last few, the spring mix (my favorite season) has evolved into a double disc affair that I share with my friends.  And now I share it with you!

As it's designed as an album experience, I HIGHLY SUGGEST you give it at least a once-over without peeking at the track titles first.  Best enjoyed while driving or dancing on a gorgeous spring day.  Or on a mountaintop with a radio and good batteries.  The spring mix is always a labor of love for me, so I hope you dig my personal ode to joy.
