Hot Fun 3: Do It Again!
Apparently every six years this mix gets a sequel! In 2006 we had Hot Fun in the Summertime, and in 2012 there was Hot Fun and More of It. The titles and artwork say it all. Grab your towel and cold drink, see you by the pool...

Summer in the City: Last Dance
When I came here in 2010 to spend a Summer in the City, I had no idea the street beat would lure me in for a seven year adventure. Once I got into the groove, I made Summer in the City 212, and now, one last dance with the Big Apple as I prepare to leave. Ice cream trucks, endless summer nights and dancing in the street...we got a love situation!

Downtown Boogie Down
The mix that almost never was! Conceived as a companion to Bubble Pop Electric Youth, various misadventures in the Big Apple kept this mix from seeing the light of day for seven years, until now. A full-blown double-disc spring/summer extravaganza! Let Uptown Doodie Brown show you how to do a blowout right as he prepares to leave the city and hit the road.
It's more bounce to the ounce, and it's sugar free! So don't stop the music. Catch you on the flipside, peace out!!!

Hot summer nights and hot disco trax. Le freak your way to the dance floor, 'cause we're gonna boogie oogie oogie til you just can't boogie no more. Your disco needs you. Ya dig?
This mix is inspired by and dedicated to the one and only Charlotte Rose Coyle, my muse and disco lover. Dim all the lights sweet darling, and let's dance the night away.

Summer in the City 212
In June 2010 I moved on up to NYC and experienced Summer in the City. Five years later, I'm bringing the sequel to the 212. Summer has many faces, but I love pounding the pavement to some old school funk. So if you got the boogie fever, get up offa that thing and dance until you feel better! Ya dig?

Love on Top
This summer was way too short, but it's not over yet! There's still time for a last blast, whether on the roof, beach, boat or living room. Blame it on the boogie!

Zephyr in the Sky
Surprise! Thought Crystal Blue was the only summer mix? No way man, that was a project from last year that finally came around. THIS is the real summer mix of 2013. And it comes at the perfect time when things are winding down, but we can still squeeze what's left of those glorious sunny days. Zephyr in the Sky is a free wheeling, day tripping, meadow frolicking, cloud gazing, sun shining psychedelic groove through the heart chakra. May this song reach your heart like a ray of light, and make you feel like you just got home!
With love,

This mix is dedicated to my pioneer soul brother David Green, who inspired me to go forth.

Crystal Blue
Better late than never, the summer mix is here! I hope you've all had a chance to relax and enjoy some sun and shine. This mix is perfect for riding out on diamond waves of sparkling water, or lounging on the beach or poolside. Sail away on a blissful tide. Let the water cool your mind, the sun warm your body, and the music soothe your soul. Ain't it beautiful...Crystal Blue!

GAIA: Animus
Four summers ago, I created a world music influenced mix called GAIA: Songs of the Earth. Here is the followup. It's a little more rough around the edges, being inspired by tribal dance and ecstatic trance. Like an exhibitory state of heightened awareness, it builds in energy to a frenzy before being unleashed into the cosmos, to finally return, altered somehow. Apropos of my current personal journey, I hope you can delight in it too. Great for shaking off the dust (maybe while cleaning?), letting loose and dancing like no one is watching.

GAIA: Songs of the Earth
Hello All. Well, summer has finally wound down, and yet it's not quite fall. We find ourselves between the worlds, reflecting as the year begins to wane. With all the internal movement happening with me lately, it's the perfect moment to finally release this mix I made a number of years ago, a blend of world/dance music to reach the soul. The brand new followup will be released at the end of the week, but let's start from the beginning. I hold this collection very dear to my heart, and it will get you moving toward your own inner self. Namaste!

A Midsummer's Daydream
In the summertime when the weather is high, you can stretch right up and touch the sky. Yes folks, after years of waiting it's finally here, the followup to Lazy Days of Summer. As the dog days begin to wind down, we still have time to soak up every last drop of hazy sunshine and sweet tea lemonade. It's still summertime, and the livin's easy. Grab a cool drink, find a nice shade tree for the afternoon, and drift off on this bit of good ole' fashioned nostalgia. What a day for a daydream!

Lime in the Coconut
Hot of the press! Straight from the streets of Kingston via NYC, I bring you Lime in the Coconut, the third installment of my island jam series (see Underneath Palm Trees and The Banana Boat). Make no mistake, this is no hammock reggae mix, although some of it is. Get ready to feel alive and crank up the heat for your beach days and cabana nights. Get get get in LIME and settle down before you drop it low.

Hot Fun and More of It
Well, well, well, it's finally here, the first new mix of Summer 2012! It's taken me a while, as this is a sequel to Hot Fun in the Summertime and I wanted to recapture the magic and do the original justice. With some sunshine, sweat and a few cocktails, this baby has finally made it's way to you. Feel free to enjoy by the pool, on the roof or in your car with the windows down. It's hot out, have some fun!

Underneath Palm Trees
Again, taking it back to 2006. This is the first in a series of urban/island jams custom made for lounging on the beach or struttin' your swagger through the hot asphalt streets. This one turns up the temperature, so get ready to sweat and go for a little ride around the way.

Hot Fun in the Summertime
Hello kids! By now summer is in full swing, and I know you're just sitting around wondering where the hell is the Petropolis mix?! Never fear, I've been busy cooking up some sizzling sequels this year, but first let me take you back to 2006. This mix remains one of my standards of sunshine bliss, so I hope you enjoy it as much as I still do. See you by the pool!

Reborn This Way
This is at once a mix posting and a confessional, so bear with me. I've been kinda quiet on the blog the past couple of months, but inside my head has been a cacophony of thoughts, ideas and emotions. After a sense of accomplisment from reaching the year mark in NYC, a silent question hung over me. Now what? I thought I knew the direction I was headed, but then the bottom dropped out of some big plans, and I found myself back at square one, feeling more lost than ever. Now I see several forks in the road, several possible paths, several decisions to make. It took a minute, but I've now embraced the change, calling on my learned skills of adaptability and seeing where certain paths lead. Traveling down my own road, watching the signs as I go.
While my mixes are really fun to make, they're also time capsules of where I'm at, mentally and emotionally, at this point in my life. I think that's why it took so long to get this mix out this summer, because I didn't know what I was feeling. Everything I tried to put together felt forced, until I retreated to Pennsylvania and had an amazing weekend with an old friend. Good advice, strange dreams, and the untimely death of an amazing talent oddly came together to crystallize everything for me, to let me know that...it's ok.
So take a swim in the cool waters and brilliant sunshine of Reborn This Way. It's my own version of a soul-cleansing spiritual baptism. Even if it only makes sense to me, it'll still make you smile and maybe move your feet. Enjoy!
This mix is dedicated to Kendall, a true soul mate. And to Amy, who will be dearly missed.

Burn This Mother Out!
Hey! Summer ain't over yet, sitch yo ass back down. I've been slaving away through these dog days, but you can't keep a good mix down. This is my first mix conceived and produced in New York City. And it's taking all the restraint I have to keep from busting out dancing on the subway right now. Fall is on the horizon, but first let these ladies get you wet with sweat. Before ya cool it down, we got ta burn it up!
As an added bonus, here's a little chestnut from a while back. I had planned a second volume for this summer, but alas I remained in NYC and am missing out on the sweltering, back porch summer experience. And believe me, I do miss it. So this one goes out to all those folks back home. Catch some lightning bugs, drink whisky out of mason jars, and raise a glass to the glory of summer. I am a country boy at heart, so I'll be back before you know it!

Picnic in the Summertime

Summer Camp
Hey kids! By now summer is in full swing, and while I'm away at camp, I want you to enjoy some of the best jams. This was a package deal
I created a couple years back. I think of it as one for the campers, one for the counselors. Listen to Wet Hot on July 4th, you won't regret it. Now hand over that beer!
